There will be a Rorate Mass on each Saturday in Advent at 7.30am. These Masses, offered only during this season, are celebrated in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Traditionally they are celebrated at sunrise and are lit only by candlelight. There will be refreshments after the Masses.
On Friday, the feast of the Immaculate Conception, there will be a Sung Mass at 7am, after which all are invited to join us for breakfast in the Rectory. There will also be Mass at 12.30pm as usual. This evening at 6.30pm we conclude our triduo in preparation for the feast.
The Triduo for the Immaculate Conception begins this evening at 6.30pm, with a period of silence, short sermon and prayers for the coming Feast. This will be repeated on Wednesday and Thursday, leading up to the feast on Friday, when there will be a Sung Mass at 7am followed by breakfast in the Rectory.
On Wednesday, St Nicholas’ Day, the triduo prayers will be preceded by a short talk on St Nicholas at 6.15pm and followed by refreshments.
“Let us reflect that the Word left heaven, and stooped to become man for us.” (St Philip Neri)
See our website for the full Advent schedule, which includes the Triduum for the Immaculate Conception in the coming week, an evening talk this Wednesday for the feast of St Nicholas, Rorate Masses every Saturday morning, and our first Children’s Oratory on 16th December.
The season of Advent is a chance to deepen our faith in the Word made flesh. With joy let us prepare again our lives, our hearts and our homes for the coming of Christ this Christmas!
Prayers for the beatification of the Venerable Margaret Sinclair on the anniversary of her death. May she soon be numbered among the saints!
This Friday, 24th November, is the 98th anniversary of Venerable Margaret Sinclair’s death. At 10.30am we will offer the Rosary at her former grave at Mount Vernon Cemetery, then walk back to St Patrick’s for Mass. For those unable to come to the cemetery, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed in church from around 10am.
